students working too much

Kramer writes an article about students working in college. The college workload of studying and homework in reading is already time consuming. Then you add on extracurricular activities that are encouraged but can not be used as an excuse on why you didn't get your work done. Some students have part time jobs on top of that which is almost too much. I know once I came to college I had so much more school work in high school and then I got involved in a couple clubs and I'm pledging a fraternity right now which is almost like another class. The workload gets crazy and you have to learn to balance your time but at some point there is basically not enough time. School is super expensive and most college kids work in the summer just to get by. We make minimum wage or a little more then minimum wage and I know with working a full year at Subway and saving my money I could not even pay half of my bill for school. That is a sad reality knowing no matter how hard you work your job you still won't make enough money for school. That is why kids work during the school year but that can effect your grades due to not having the time to study. It is definitely part of growing up you just get busier and busier and free time comes once in awhile and it sucks but it is life.

  1. In today's economy, students are encouraged to work a part-time job so they can have some money to pay for their possessions such as a car, a phone or for just spending money. What is not taken into fact is how much harder school has gotten since the 1960s-1980s when our parents were in school. I like how you have a relationship with this topic by have been working at Subway when you went through high school. Life can be tough but we need to remember that a part-time job or minimum wage job, these jobs were made for students to make money along the side of school. Not for full grown adults that are trying to make living.
